As we read Alexie's poetry, I find some similarities between his poetry and that of Frost. THe structure of their story poems are remarkably similar and many of their thematic concepts are connected weirdly enough. I often find myself connecting the two even if they may seem unconnected at first.
I think Alexie has a lot of role models in the writing world. Forst may be one of them. But we do know that he's inspired by many others, such as Adrian C. Louis and his "Elegy for the Forgotten Oldsmobile." He also uses many quotes from other writers to introduce his pieces, such as "The Soul Selects Her Own Society" -Emily Dickinson (page 60 in FACE) and Lawrence Thornton in "Imagining the Reservation" (page 149 in Lone Ranger).
