Kafka Illustration
I think that Crumb's illustration of "The Judgement" is done very well. The drawings are very dark and vague, which is the type of tone that the story gives out. The drawings also portray all of the fathers different emotions very well. This emphasizes the huge shift in the way he acts. The facial expressions of the characters are very helpful because they allow Kafka to not have to explain or show how the characters feel since it is apparent in the illustrations. Finally the illustrations are very helpful because they show the craziness of the father and the whole story in general.

Zack--try to be even more specific. What particular boxes in the Kafka comic show the father's emotions? What specific emotions do you see in the story that are reflected well in the illustrations?
ReplyDeleteI agree with Zack and the illustrations resembling The Judgement are very good. I like how he draws Georg putting the letter and his pocket and going g to his fathers room. I also like how mentions the deaths of Georg's mother into the illustrations as well. I think he does a good job picking out the sections that are most relevant to the story for his drawings.
